JOB SUMMARY
Perform skilled mechanical duties, including the repair, maintenance, and inspection of light and heavy-duty law enforcement vehicles and equipment. Assist other fleet shops with repairs as needed during ice and snow events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or GED certification, automotive/diesel trade school, and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a journeyman mechanic; or any such combination of education, experience, or training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority.
Must possess small hand tools, metric and standard, suitable for repair of light and heavy truck, automotive, and construction equipment.
Certification in Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) on medium-/heavy-duty truck brakes is required; other certifications, under ASE in automobile or medium/heavy truck, are desirable. Must obtain truck brakes ASE certification within one year of hire.
Willing to work standby and extended hours when required.
Must possess or be able to obtain within 120 days of hire a valid Class B commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement. Hazardous materials endorsement may be required for employees assigned to perform specific duties.
