Sentinel Federal Credit Union is seeking a dedicated and skilled Mortgage Loan Officer. Join SFCU’s dynamic team as a Mortgage Loan Officer where you will play a crucial role in the origination of long-term mortgage loans, including lot and construction loans.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accurate completion of assigned loan origination functions including conducting interviews, completing applications, and processing preliminary documentation on loan requests. Provide member with loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation in such a manner as to elicit positive responses from members.

  • Perform follow-up work as necessary to achieve conditional approval within established time frames.

  • Notify member of loan status due to problem ratios or credit ratings.

  • Advise member of loan approval or denial. Explain loan denials precisely and clearly to member.

  • Complete lending steps in accordance with established Credit Union policies and legal requirements.

  • Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relations with members, realtors, and building professionals. Inform members and potential borrowers of CU loan policies and services.

Job Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of the credit union’s products and services.

  • Working knowledge of organization’s policies, procedures, and service philosophy.

  • Excellent knowledge of changes in lending standards, related legal requirements, and trends in local real estate and competitive market.

  • Working knowledge of safety and security program for false alarms, robberies, bomb threats, and extortion.

Requirements/Preference:

  • A minimum of 18 years of age required.

  • A valid driver’s license required.

  • 2 years direct and relevant experience required.

  • High School diploma required.

  • College education preferred.

  • A combination of relevant experience and education may be accepted.

Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions. Ability to think strategically and bring forth ideas to make sure the IT function is operating at maximum efficiency. Ability to comprehend complex functions and procedures and to be able to disseminate that knowledge in a clear and understandable format to others. Ability to express oneself, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to prepare and maintain confidential records and reports. Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts and develop solutions. Ability to analyze statistics and financial data. Ability to assess needs of multiple members and prioritize requests to ensure that all members receive the highest quality of service possible. Ability to present a professional and personable personality that communicates to members and visitors that the credit union is a professional financial institution. Ability to interact with more than one department daily. Ability to work within precise standardized guidelines with some latitude to make decisions and take initiative to resolve problems or unique circumstances. Ability to use a rational and organized approach to completing tasks.

Classification: Full-Time Benefited

Starting Pay Range: $24.50/hour DOE

Expected Start Date: Immediate Hire
