This position requires a majority of the time in volunteer coordination as well as intern processing, scheduling, and training. This position works with numerous volunteers of all ages and skills. This position is a comprehensive volunteer program leader, requiring the person to schedule a large number of people on a daily basis, recruit volunteers when needed, train volunteers in all aspects of their jobs, find ways to retain and reward volunteers and support all functions of the Outdoor Campus with a volunteer staff. Continuing to build and maintain a strong mentorship program throughout the Campus is an important role for this position. This position will oversee all social media platforms for the Outdoor Campus. This candidate will oversee intern onboarding, training, and scheduling of the Campus interns. The candidate will assist with outdoor recreation, hunting, and angling programs, including teaching. This position will work with computer programs MS Word, Access, Excel, Publisher, Canva, Volistics, social media platforms, and the internet on a regular basis. Must have excellent oral communication skills, like working with people of all ages, as well as have good managerial skills. Hours will vary slightly from week to week due to meetings and events. Regular hours are Monday-Friday with rotating weekends, 8 a.m-5 p.m.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have: A B.S. or B.A. in education, communication, counseling, biology, business, consumer affairs, natural resource/conservation management, environmental science, or similar degree is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have strong public speaking skills, ability to lead hunting, fishing, and outdoor education programming, and experience managing volunteers and interns.
Knowledge of:
- volunteer R3, rewards, and tracking systems;
- hunting, angling, and outdoor recreation activities.
Skill to:
- trouble shoot ways to keep a volunteer workforce preforming effectively, efficiently, and competently;
- coach volunteers and interns who are not performing at the expected level;
- be highly organized and efficient overseeing continuing education and training for all volunteers and interns;
- skills in hunting, fishing, shooting sports or outdoor skills such as camping, hiking, or backpacking highly suggested.
