Job Summary & Requirements

Job Summary:

This position safely performs set up, operates and maintains printing press and provide product that is within established guidelines regarding feet per hour, waste standards and quality values set by the customer and CCL Standard Operating Procedures and for color, metrics and registration in an efficient manner that provides on time delivery to the customer.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Be proficient in set up, operation and change over on one or more types of presses including digital, flexographic and affixing.
  • Prepares, aligns, and configures machinery, ink, rollers, paper, film or other materials.
  • Inspects proof sheets to evaluate the quality of printing
  • Maintain inventory of supplies needed to operate printing press
  • Ensures proper validation sign-off of set up is complete prior to running a job.
  • Runs product according to specifications provided by the customer and CCL;
  • Loads raw material into press and unloads finished product.
  • Maintains a clean work area.
  • Completion of required product and process audits.
  • Completes inspection of product prior to transfer to finishing departments.
  • Exchange of information with shifts prior to/following work shift
  • Operates pallet lifts, jacks, cranes and other lifting equipment as needed for material and product movement.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain quality on projects
  • Properly complete all documentation required on the computer or by hand to track the job.
  • Properly use computer to enter/retrieve job specific information and complete/reference training documents.
  • Perform tasks assigned by others in a diverse and varied work environment.
  • Follows cGMP policy and Standard Operating Procedure


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Good mechanical aptitude and skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals quickly and correctly.
  • Skill in practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
  • Skill in performing measurement operations with units in imperial and metric systems.
  • Ability to measure with exceptional accuracy using various measurement tools.
  • Able to read, interpret and follow documents such as work instructions, safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures, and maintenance instructions/manuals to properly perform work.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems.
  • Willingness and ability to work with other team members and management.
  • Strong work ethic and good attitude towards work.
  • Honest, reliable team player.
  • Safety conscious and comply with all general safety policies and procedures in accordance with Company, State and Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 2 years or more experience in manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Previous Press Operator experience (preferred)


Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms above and below shoulder level
  • Regularly stand and walk for 10-12 hours during a shift.
  • Regularly communicate in some manner either by speech/hearing or through written communication.
  • Regularly use of vision abilities including close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently required to push/pull.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Regularly exposed to moderate noise level in the work environment.
