Job Summary
- The Addiction Counselor ll is a bachelor’s prepared counselor who is a part of a dynamic treament team deidicated to providing effective therapeutic and preventative services to individuals, families, and communites affected by substance use. Counselors must be committed to the disease concept while utilizing the 12-step process. Duties include substance abuse screenings, treatment needs assessment, individual/group/family counseling, facilitating treatment and crisis intervention to adolescents and adults affected by substance abuse, addition, and dual diagnoses issues. As part of a multidisciplinary team, counselors develop measureable and patient-centered treament goals. All counselors and trainees must maintain compliance with documentation requirements pursuant to state, federal and agency regulations. This position requires the ability to maintain strict confidentiality pursuant to HIPPA and 42 CFR. Part 2 guidlines and agency policies.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelors Degree is required.
- 2-4 years related experience and/or training is preferred.
- Preferred candidates will have clinical experience facilitating group therapy sessions and providing individual counseling services.
- Preferred candidates will also have experience working with clients having co-occurring addictive disorders in conjunction with mental health conditions.
- Clinical experience with couples and/or family therapy is desired.
License/Certification/Registration
- Must have completed all academic and work experience requirements for Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC), applied for certification, and successfully passed IC&RC’s Alcohol & Drug Counselor (ADC) Written Examination.
- BLS –Basic Life Support
- CPI –Crisis Prevention Intervention/Non-violent Crisis Intervention
- Certified or Licensed Addictions Counselor preferred.
Work Schedule
- Monday – Friday; 80 hours every 2 weeks
- 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, 12:00 pm - 9:00 pm
- Occasional weekend
- Occasional holiday
- Occasional call time
Pay
The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
