We are seeking a Full-Time Outside Sales Representative to join the team at our Omaha, NE location.
Work hours are typically Monday through Friday during normal business hours.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Proactively identify and engage potential customers in the construction industry, including contractors, builders, and construction companies.
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve sales targets and expand the customer base.
- Stay updated on industry developments, product knowledge, and competitor activities.
- Keep informed of new products, services, and other general information of interest to customers.
- Partner with supplier representatives to bring in new products that will enhance customer performance and company revenues.
- Understand customers' needs, requirements, and project specifications to provide appropriate product recommendations.
- Conduct product demonstrations to educate customers on the features, benefits, and applications of the construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and objections promptly.
- Qualify leads, follow up on inquiries, and manage the complete sales process from initial contact to the closing of a sale.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and influencing skills along with knowledge of excellent selling practices and techniques.
- Prepare sales quotes and proposals, negotiate terms, and close transactions.
- Provide regular sales reports, forecasts, and updates to the sales manager.
- Provide exceptional customer service by ensuring timely delivery of orders and addressing post-sales issues or concerns.
- Foster long-term customer relationships by being responsive, reliable, and attentive to customer needs.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including customer service, operations, accounting, and logistics, to ensure smooth order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
- Assist customers in the credit application process.
- Assist in connecting with customers to ensure that past due bills are paid and collect payments when necessary.
- Offer support and assistance to coworkers during peak periods or in their absence.

- In-depth knowledge of construction materials, tools, and equipment, including their applications and usage.
- Strong professional business acumen and understanding of the sales process, including lead generation, prospecting, and closing techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and build relationships with customers while maintaining confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively.
- Results-driven mindset with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as collaboratively with a team.
- Prioritize and plan work activities effectively demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness.
- Ability to travel within assigned territory and work flexible hours as needed.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products and computer software applications.
- Basic mathematical knowledge relating to calculating prices, discounts, commissions, and profit margins. Understanding percentages and ratios when discussing discounts, markups, or analyzing sales data and familiarity with sales metrics and data analysis.
Here’s what you’ll need to be successful:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in outside sales or retail environment, preferably in the construction industry or related field.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Clean driving record with no history of major violations, accidents, or DUI convictions.

Physical Capabilities Required:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Moderate amounts of grasping, fingering and repetitive motion.
- Energy and stamina to handle a busy schedule and physically demanding workdays, which may include extended periods of standing, walking, or driving.
- Understand the speech of another person. Speak clearly so listeners can understand.
- Sufficient normal limits of hearing.
- Planned overnight travel will be necessary.
