Job Description
The Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls, SD is celebrating our 118th year of operations, and we are currently seeking passionate and team-oriented restaurant professionals to join our team. Minnehaha Country Club operates a robust on-site catering and events operation, as well as two full-service, year-round restaurants. Minnehaha Country Club is Sioux Falls’ premier country club, operates year-round and serves membership of approximately 740 families. The Club features an immaculate championship 18-hole golf course and one of the finest restaurants in the region, as well as swimming, tennis, and fitness amenities.
Our Pantry/Salads cook will report to the Windows Sous Chefs and assist in the execution of meal service. Applicants must have open availability.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pantry/Salads line cooks may be full- time (Tuesday through Saturday with occasional holiday variances) and have a starting wage of $18.00-19.00 based on skill and experience.
Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience in kitchen preparation and/or cooking in a club, resort, hotel, or institutional setting is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Daily Preparation of salad line, pantry items including dessert prep. Assembling salads and cold entres during dinner service. Running for food and equipment, when necessary, while always helping to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and the standard of the club. - Gathers all supplies and small wares needed to prepare daily meals.
- Prepares all food from menu using standard recipes in accordance with club standards.
- Keeps workstation and cooking equipment clean.
- Sets-up, maintains and breaks-down cook station.
- Identifies product needs and requisitions items needed to prepare menu items.
- Notifies sous chef in advance of expected shortages or issues.
- Maintains security and safety in work area.
- Adheres to local and state health and food safety standards.
- Ensures that work area and equipment are clean and sanitary.
- Covers, dates, and neatly stores re-usable leftover products.
- Attends kitchen staff meetings.
- Assists with other duties as instructed by the Sous Chef and the Executive Chef.
Knowledge, Experience and Abilities
- Must be able to communicate clearly and respectfully with managers, kitchen, and dining room personnel.
- Maintains the highest food safety standards.
- Follows all safety procedures for operating and cleaning machinery.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- Able to produce all assigned menu items according to the club’s standard recipes.
- Helps in other areas of the kitchen during slow periods or when necessary.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Push, pull or lift to 50 pounds.
- Continuous repetitive motions.
- This is a typical professional kitchen work environment, which may be hot, humid, and noisy.
