JOB SUMMARY: Manage, direct, supervise, and coordinate various recreation programs, special events, and operations for the community; manage volunteer coaches; manage paid & volunteer umpires; manage concession stand inventory and volunteer schedule, facilitate use of all City athletic resources to community sports organizations; coordinate assigned activities with other City Departments, outside organizations, and the general public. Oversees and coordinates maintenance, care, and improvement of City parks, open space areas, forestry, and native areas. This position requires work during irregular hours throughout the year, including nights and weekends as necessary to achieve the mission of the Lennox Parks and Recreation Program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Coordinate and schedule practices, games, and tasks associated with the Lennox Recreation Programs, including online registration and various website tasks, uniforms, equipment, field scheduling, insurance, inventory, league fees, etc.
- Oversee the care and maintenance of all parks, open spaces, trees, and native areas owned by the City of Lennox
- Ensure the care and maintenance of all Park and Recreation Equipment
- Oversee and coordinate the operation of the Lennox Community Swimming Pool
- Coordinate concession activities, including ordering and stocking concession stands, organizing concession workers, maintaining internal controls on inventory and expenses
- Work with volunteer coaches and paid umpires to provide a safe, uplifting, and development-focused experience for youth
- Coordinate and provide staff support at Lennox Park Board meetings
- Ensure compliance with Lennox Parks and Recreation Policies & Procedures
- Supervise, direct, train, and develop all Parks and Recreation employeesSubmit policy and program recommendations to the Park Board as needed
- Apply for and secure grant and other funding for park and recreation improvements
- Ensure compliance with Lennox Parks and Recreation Policies & Procedures
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelors Degree in recreation, physical education, public administration, or a related field preferred
- Must be committed to quality customer service and youth development
- Must be organized and have above average computer skills
- Must obtain Pool Operator Certification
- First Aid Certification Required
- Must be able to attend Board & Committee meetings
- Must have above-average communication skills.
- Must be able to work on projects efficiently and independently.
