Partsroom Technician! Job Description: This position manages the Department of Transportation (DOT) regional warehouse, parts room, and inventories. Duties may include, but are not limited to, researching purchase items and contacting dealers, suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors; ordering, receiving, and issuing equipment, equipment parts, tools, etc.; procuring and receiving supplies; transferring inventory between warehouses; securing, monitoring, and adjusting inventory for a DOT warehouse/parts room; conducting annual inventory of DOT warehouses; and monitoring fuel levels, purchasing fuel, and programming fuel keys.
From approximately April 15 to October 15, the anticipated work schedule for this position is 10-hour days, 4 days per week, from Monday through Thursday each week. The Shop is to maintain core staff on Fridays during the April - October timeframe which requires rotational scheduling which results in some Friday coverage. From approximately October 15 to April 15, the anticipated work schedule for this position is eight-hour days, Monday through Friday. Night and shift work will be required, including working weekend hours and holidays during emergencies and inclement weather.
Work assignments are normally in a parts room within a DOT shop; occasionally, work may be completed outside with potential exposure to extreme weather conditions. The incumbent may also be exposed to various operating equipment and moving mechanical parts (e.g., high-pressure hoses and connections, power presses, cutting torches) and fumes (e.g., welding, exhaust systems, solvents, gasoline, paints).

Duties and Responsibilities: - Procurement Research of Equipment, Equipment Part(s), Tools, etc. - Research purchase items by accessing Equipment Management System (EMS) and contacting dealers, suppliers, manufacturers and vendors to ensure proper parts are obtained at the best possible price within needed timeframes.
- Procurement of Equipment, Equipment Part(s), tools, etc. - Orders, receives, and issues equipment, equipment parts, tools, etc. according to State policies and procedures to ensure timely and appropriate procurement of items.
- Procurement of Supplies - Procures and receives supplies per policy and procedure to ensure proper supplies are obtained at the best possible price within needed timeframes.
- Inventory Transfer - Transfers inventory between Department of Transportation warehouses per policies and procedures to assist in inventory management control.
- Inventory Control for Region Warehouse/Parts Room - Secures, monitors and adjusts inventory for the Region Warehouse/Parts Room to ensure inventory is secured and to ensure adequate supply and disposal of inventory items per policies and procedures and legislative audit guidelines.
- Annual Inventory - Conducts annual inventory of Region warehouses to ensure accurate accounting of items on Warehouse Inventory Report.
- Fuel System - Monitors fuel levels, purchases fuel, and programs fuel keys to ensure adequate inventory and access to fuel.
- Training and Development - Attends training and participates in training development.
- Safety - Maintains and promotes a safe work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of:
- basic mathematical calculations;
- inventory control methods;
- invoices, requisitions, and other forms related to purchasing;
- parts order catalogs (desirable but not required);
- motor vehicle/equipment parts and terminology (desirable but not required).
Skill to:
- operate load handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, telehandler) (desirable but not required);
- operate computers and use various software, including Microsoft Office Suite;
- effectively organize, track, and maintain working documents and transactions.
Ability to:
- display high standards of ethical conduct;
- treat customers courteously and be responsive to their needs;
- work cooperatively with others and promote a friendly work climate in order to achieve shared goals;

Position Requirements: A valid driver's license is required.
Compensation: The total compensation of Hourly Wage + State/Federal Benefits for a typical year for entry level Partsroom Technician is approximately $64,405.00 annually.
This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
