Journeyman Plumbing Service Technician-Sioux Falls

Position Summary:
The Plumbing Journeyman Service Technician assembles, installs and repairs plumbing, hydronic, steam and med gas systems according to project specifications and appropriate trade and building codes. These systems may consist of pipes, fittings, fixtures and boilers for hydronic heating, water, med gas (if certified) and drainage systems. This person is responsible for providing the highest quality of work and their own productivity. Often it is necessary to stay with a task until it is completed in this role as it is service to necessary and/or operating systems. This position is responsible for emergency on-call services which rotate thru our service team.

Essential Job Functions:
- Wears all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required at all times
- Communicate issues, scope of work, plans and pricing with customers
- Diagnoses problems and/or failures in a variety of plumbing and gas systems
- Repairs and installs various types of piping including but not limited to iron, steel, copper, pex and pvc
- Inspects equipment, structures or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
- Operates powered equipment including hand tools, stationary machines and others
- Makes decisions by analyzing information and evaluating results
- Maintains a high quality initiative while completing assigned duties
- Tests for leaks in new and repaired systems with compressed air and/or water
- Lawfully drive a motor vehicle and maintain a current driver's license in order to commute to the various current or prospective job sites in the region. Will need to obtain DOT certification to operate company vehicles
- Provides daily direction to assigned Apprentices on the job site and actively participates in training and development of Apprentices
- Maintains a positive attitude to drive and build positive morale
- Communicating with office and management staff to help with smooth workflow and planning
- Communicating vehicle maintenance needs and/or issues while maintaining the day to day service of the vehicle assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Available for overtime upon occasion
- Ability to work independently and with others
- Great mechanical skills and willingness to learn new things
- Ability to verbally communicate with management, city officials, on-site customers and other employees
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license with DOT physical
- Reliable transportation to get to the Midwestern Mechanical shop
- Ability to work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines
- Ability to read and interpret written materials, perform basic mathematical computations and use measuring tools
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a continuous basis and more than 80 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to work in confined spaces
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent required
- SD Journeyman Plumber license required
- Field experience in plumbing as a Journeyman Plumber required
- Boiler experience in residential and /or commercial application both installing and troubleshooting is required
- Field experience in plumbing as a Journeyman Plumber in commercial applications preferred
- MN, IA journeyman license preferred and would be required after hire
