Prepared Foods Manager Overview:
Position Summary
The Prepared Foods Manager is responsible for the overall operations of Pomegranate Market’s kitchen, bistro, and catering departments. This position manages department personnel and processes to ensure consistent operations, adherence to labor and safety guidelines, and fulfillment of store policies. The Manager will oversee revenues and profitability, employee supervision, product development, merchandising, inventory, and customer service standards.
Reports to: General Manager
Supervises: Shift leads, cooks, service and support staff
Status: Full-time, hourly
Responsibilities
Customer Service & Leadership
- Model friendly, engaged customer service and set a positive example for the team.
- Promote a culture of helpfulness, efficiency, and high morale.
- Train staff to deliver consistent, top-tier service.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, patience, and care with both customers and employees.
Operations & Food Production
- Manage kitchen and deli production levels to maintain proper product mix.
- Ensure quality control of all recipes and food safety standards.
- Maintain clean and organized kitchen and display areas in compliance with health codes.
- Place special orders and handle custom requests courteously.
Financial & Inventory Management
- Oversee department sales, margins, and labor to meet financial goals.
- Monitor and control inventory levels.
- Plan and execute promotions and sales initiatives.
- Participate in monthly inventory counts and ensure accurate record keeping.
Staff Supervision & Training
- Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate staff in line with store policies.
- Assign duties and follow up to ensure completion.
- Conduct performance evaluations and enforce accountability.
- Hold regular team meetings and provide ongoing training.
Merchandising & Marketing
- Maintain attractive, well-stocked displays with proper signage.
- Coordinate with Marketing Team on campaigns, events, and product promotions.
- Stay informed on trends and collaborate with vendors.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health standards.
- Maintain and coordinate repairs for kitchen equipment.
- Train staff on emergency procedures and safe working habits.
- Report any safety or sanitation concerns immediately.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in a food service or kitchen environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with recipe or inventory systems is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must obtain food handler certification (Serve Safe or equivalent) within 90 days of hire.
Physical & Equipment Requirements
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, lift, and perform repetitive motions.
- Comfortable using commercial kitchen tools and cleaning equipment.
- May involve use of a ladder, pallet jack, or hand truck.
