The Division of Finance is looking for an articulate professional who is organized, energetic, motivated, and dependable. This individual must be driven by our vision to build Strong Families, South Dakota's Foundation and Our Future.
This position leads and manages the work of a team of accountants/auditors for the Department of Social Services Provider Reimbursement and Audits program. The office conducts external reviews of agencies that provide services for the Department to ensure compliance of federal and state rules and regulations. The office also conducts internal reviews to ensure DSS programs are in compliance with program requirements and state and federal rules and regulations. This position assists in the provider rate-setting process for the Finance Office, determines allowable costs for rate setting, and oversees cost report reviews. The position contributes to the annual rate workgroup team in reviewing methodologies, providing recommendations, and collaborating with third-party stakeholders.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have: - 4-year accounting degree plus 1-2 years of relevant experience in the accounting field.

- 4-year accounting degree plus 3-5 years of relevant experience in the accounting field.
Knowledge of: - Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP): Knowledge of standards and practices for financial accounting and reporting.
- Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS): Understanding of standards for auditing financial statements.
- Financial Regulations: Ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.
Skill to: - Leadership: Lead a team in reviewing external agencies and internal programs.
- Rate-Setting Processes: Assist in rate-setting processes.
- Planning: Develop and execute the annual work plan for the team.
- Data Management: Conduct data collection and analysis.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Teamwork: Work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Organization: Organize, lead, and facilitate project-related meetings.
Ability to: - Leadership: Provide work direction to direct reports and other team members to carry out various activities supporting the finance office.

This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.
