Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota, invites applications for a tenure-track full-time faculty position in psychology and department chair. We are seeking applicants with a commitment to high quality undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts setting. This tenure-track faculty position offers an exceptional opportunity for an experienced educator to guide the department toward continued excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement. As a faculty member, the successful candidate will teach a variety of courses (e.g., cognitive psychology, abnormal psychology, experimental psychology, counseling courses, and senior thesis). The typical departmental teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester (four 3-credit-hour classes). Special consideration will be given to candidates with backgrounds in clinical, counseling, and social psychology.
In the Department Chair role, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the Psychology Department, including the curriculum, research initiatives, faculty development, and student success. The successful candidate will design and oversee a comprehensive four-year curriculum integrating research, writing, and community-based learning projects. As Department chair, the successful candidate will ensure students are well-prepared for postgraduate opportunities, emphasizing workforce readiness and research excellence.
The start date is August 2025. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Priority will be given to applications submitted on or before January 31, 2025.
The successful candidate will:
Demonstrate a commitment to engaging, innovative, and evidence-informed teaching, incorporating diverse instructional methods.
Have administrative and leadership experience, including curriculum development, budget management, and faculty supervision.
