This is a Part-Time >= 20 Hours Weekly position with the Human Services Center. For more information on the Human Services Center, please visit https://dss.sd.gov .
The Human Services Center provides individuals with psychiatric disorders or chemical dependency effective, individualized professional treatment which enables them to achieve their highest level of personal independence. Our Psychology staff provide assessment and treatment of psychiatric patients. Treatment modalities include: Individual psychotherapy, Group psychotherapy, and Psychological evaluations assessing personality and cognitive functioning. Trainees will be involved with multidisciplinary treatment teams.
Licenses and Certifications: It is preferred that Trainees have attained their Master's Degree.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Ideal Trainees will have previously worked at an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
Knowledge of:
- inpatient mental health treatment;
- adult and adolescent psychopathology;
- psychological evaluations to assess:
- intellectual ability;
- cognitive functioning;
- personality and psychopathology;
- evidence-based treatments particularly in the area of short-term individual psychotherapy.
Skill to:
- maintain a productive schedule of assigned duties;
- utilize supervision as needed.
Ability to:
- administer and interpret psychological tests;
- produce clear and concise psychological evaluation reports;
- conduct individual psychotherapy;
- communicate effectively with treatment team.
