Job Description

The Purchasing & MRP (Material Resource Planning) Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the procurement of materials and coordinating material resource planning with a focus on managing and optimizing Bills of Materials (BOM). The role involves ensuring that materials specified in BOMs are accurately ordered and tracked, and that production requirements are met on time and within budget.

Job Requirements
Duties/Responsibilities:

Review, update, and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all products, ensuring they align with production requirements.
Collaborate with engineering and design teams to incorporate any changes to the BOM, ensuring all materials, components, and quantities are properly specified.
Monitor and verify the availability of materials listed in the BOM to avoid production delays.
Support the creation of new BOMs for new products or projects, ensuring the accurate representation of required materials.
Utilize MRP systems to manage material availability, plan material purchases, and optimize inventory levels based on BOM data and production schedules.
Work with production teams to ensure the availability of materials from the BOM, identifying and addressing any material shortages or discrepancies.
Plan material procurement in alignment with BOM, ensuring all items are available on time for production.
Address and resolve any issues with suppliers or material quality that may affect the BOM accuracy or production timeline.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality control teams to ensure BOM accuracy and material availability.
Work as a liaison with plant staff and the customer such as press proofs, checking line time and color coordination, and artwork.
Ensure that customer specifications are clearly communicated to production teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Communicate with internal teams and suppliers regarding issues such as material substitutions, shortages, or changes in production schedules.
Provide input on updates and revisions to ensure proper planning and material sourcing.
Other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

Strong understanding of production scheduling
Experience of statistical reporting, forecasting, and understanding for financial and operational impacts of forecasting
Competent IT skills in Microsoft Office and exceptional skill level in Excel.
Must be conscious of efficiencies, performance, costs, quality and safety.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Detail oriented and highly organized
Skilled in time management and prioritization
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and other systems as required
Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs), material planning, and procurement (typically 2-5 years).
Familiarity with MRP or ERP software systems and BOM management.


Physical Requirements:

Regularly use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms above and below shoulder level
Regularly stand and walk for extended periods of time
Regularly remain in stationary position for extended periods
Frequently communicate in some manner either by speech/hearing or through written communication.
Regularly use of vision abilities including close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Occasionally work around moving machinery and heavy equipment.
Occasionally required to push/pull.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Occasionally exposed to high-speed moving mechanical parts.
Occasionally exposed to UV, strobing or flashing light.
Occasionally exposed to fumes, dust or airborne particles.
Occasionally exposed to moderate noise level in the work environment.
