We provide our clients with 24/7 service along with preventative maintenance options to maximize the useful life of their refrigeration systems.

Carlson & Stewart Refrigeration, Inc. is seeking a full-time, Refrigeration Engineer for our Minnesota and/or Sioux Falls locations, to work primarily with our industrial refrigeration projects.

About the Position

  • Full time, Refrigeration Engineer

  • Salary Range: $105k - $150k

    • Pay based on experience, body of work to date, and many additional factors.

    • Hybrid position requests will be considered

    • Will not sponsor a visa

Duties/Responsibilities including but not limited to:

The Refrigeration Engineer shall be responsible for all aspects of the proper design and project estimation of all assigned projects. These duties include:

  • Conduct the initial meetings with customers or potential customers for the purpose of understanding the customer’s needs and developing a potential sale.

  • Complete the system design, engineering analyses and drawings as necessary to support project development and enhance customer relationships.

  • The formulation of bid calculations and bid documents for a project.

  • The selection and pricing of equipment.

  • Development of proposals, quotes and estimates that will sell the project and protect all parties.

  • Understand and incorporate demands on company resources, primarily manpower and equipment.

  • Coordinate peer review on all projects. Discuss and incorporate pertinent thoughts and ideas.

  • Coordination with operations to ensure complete understanding of each project.

  • The closing of the project sale.

  • Coordinate with Operations to continually optimize the bidding/estimating process.

  • The estimator is accountable for accurate estimates and will therefore continually monitor project performance.

  • Participate in pre and post project reviews.

  • Assisting with and coordinate system start up and commissioning. This work will be coordinated with the project team leader and the appropriate Service Coordinator.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The Engineer has the responsibility to work with Estimators, Project Manager(s), and the Service department to optimize the various projects and tasks that need to be accomplished

The Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager. The Engineering Manager will meet with the Engineer at least quarterly for the purpose of providing a performance appraisal. During this meeting performance goals will be reviewed, modified and agreed upon; training and educational requirements will be discussed.

Education and Experience:

  • 4-year Mechanical Engineering Degree (Required)

  • 3+ years of industrial refrigeration experience (Required)

  • Experience and interest in Design/Build Refrigeration Projects (Required)

  • Ammonia and CO2 Experience (Preferred)

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, detail oriented and highly motivated
