Do you like making a difference and having fun while working? Southeastern Directions for Life has an immediate opening for a full-time or part-time Direct Support Professional to work in one of our group home settings with individuls with developmental disabilities. Southeastern's mission is "empowering people to discover their directions for life in a changing world."
This position starts at $16.00 an hour. Evening hours are 2pm-10pm, 3 nights a week and every other weekend.
JOB SUMMARY: Our mission is to "educate and support individuals to discover their directions for life". Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are key role models for the individuals who receive services from Southeastern Directions for Life. DSPs assist individuals to lead self-directed lives, assist individuals in becoming an active part of their community, advocate for the individuals served to communicate their needs and goals, and work directly with individuals to teach them self-care, social skills, and communication skills. DSPs provide assistance with activities of daily living, skills development, health maintenance, medication administration, personal care, and behavioral development. Must be able to work weekends and holidays when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma/GED. Must have a current driver's license, car insurance, and a driving record acceptable to Southeastern’s insurance provider. Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check to include fingerprinting, Dept. of Social Services Central Registry check, Motor Vehicle background check, and drug screening.
