**Position is eligible for $2,500 ($1,000 Relief) hiring bonus and $20/hour starting wage**

Work Schedule: Varies; day, evening, overnight positions available

 
  


POSITION SUMMARY

 

Residential Treatment Technicians at our inpatient addiction recovery facility for pregnant and parenting women play a critical role in supporting New Start residents on their journey through recovery. This position involves providing modeling and support to the residents and their children as they complete the program, ensuring they are guided with empathy and understanding. Residential Treatment Technicians perform in accordance with the policies and procedures of Volunteers of America, Dakotas, and promote the agency positively among staff, residents, and community members. 

As a positive and motivating role model, this role facilitates teamwork through open communication, sharing responsibilities, and maintaining a constructive attitude. The position ensures the safety and well-being of all residents at New Start, including children when appropriate, by providing supervision and effective role modeling to encourage healthy lifestyles. Performing job responsibilities professionally and consistently with the agency’s code of ethics, the Residential Treatment Technicians embody the organization's commitment to humble service, stewardship, and quality, fostering an environment where residents can realize their strengths and gain the skills needed for successful recovery and transformation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS STATEMENT(S)

Participant Services

  1. Provide supervision to ensure safety and well-being of all residents at New Start, including the children residing at New Start when appropriate. 

  2. Participate in activities, while assisting residents in achieving privileges and approving of privileges and requests, as appropriate.

  3. Assist residents as needed during meal preparation ensuring proper nutritional needs are met.

  4. Provide effective role modeling for residents and their children to encourage healthy lifestyles.

  5. Provide support and guidance to residents in achieving their goals.

  6. Administer medications to residents as appropriate.

  7. Transport residents to appointments as needed using a company vehicle.

  8. Supervise and engage in age appropriate activities with children while their mothers attend scheduled groups and counselor/therapist sessions.

Support Services

  1. Maintain consistent communication regarding the progress of each resident with other residential staff.

  2. Document services, activities and necessary program information.

  3. Attend program staff meetings.

  4. Attend all trainings required by agency and program standards.

  5. Perform job responsibilities professionally, consistent with the agencies code of ethics.

Implementation of Therapeutic & Preventative Skills

  1. Set limits utilizing positive reinforcement to strengthen/promote positive behaviors and discourage problem behaviors.   

  2. Encourage positive behaviors of residents and their children.

  3. Assist residents to resolve conflicts, plan ahead, and make decisions.

Responsible for other duties as assigned. 

POSITIONS QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS & ABILITIES

          Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. 

          Experience: No experience needed, training will be                   provided.             

          Skills: Effective communication and problem solving                 skills are necessary. Calm demeanor and ability to de-               escalate situations. Be a positive role model.

          Certifications & Licenses: Valid driver’s license                         required if providing transportation services.         

          Other Requirements: All candidates must be at least               21 years of age.          

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Ability to stand, walk, sit, manually manipulate, reach outward and above shoulders, speak, climb, crawl, squat, kneel, and bend on a daily basis
  2. Capability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs on a daily basis
