Sales Representative

Summary

Sales Representatives are responsible for increasing sales by developing and maintaining relationships with customers and clients. Duties may include identifying prospective customers, following up on potential sales leads and maintaining relationships with existing customers. Outside Sales Representatives may also recommend marketing strategies designed for a target market.    Prepare quotes based on Customer specifications.  Follow-up with customer to resolve differences throughout the sales, build and ship process.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify and establish contact with potential customers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers.
  • Focuses sales efforts by studying existing and potential volume of current and potential customers.
  • Attend industry trade shows to identify potential sales leads and make meaningful contact with existing customers.
  • Follow industry trends to identify new opportunities for potential sales.

  • Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, marketing techniques, etc.

  • Recommend marketing strategies to target a specific region or demographic.

  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual analyses. (Most of this should be accomplished by keeping CRM current.)

  • Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.

  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Analyze customer requests and needs.

  • Prepare and present company information in front of a group.

  • Adjusts content of sales presentations by studying the type of sales outlet or trade factor.
  • Provide customer with product or feature recommendations, as appropriate.

  • Prepare quotes for customer.

  • Interact with customer to determine product definition and resolve discrepancies.

  • Review customer agreements (ie: Terms & Conditions, Non-Disclosures, etc) - recommend changes and negotiate as needed to resolve differences.

  • Consult with Operations Manager and Engineering to resolve questions or misunderstandings.

  • Read and interpret drawings.

  • Work with Engineering to bring new product to market.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

 

Education & Experience

Requires 2-year degree in a related discipline, preferably 4-yr.
• 2 - 5 years relevant sales experience preferred, and some with industrial products

 

Work Environment

  • Office cubical with laptop.

  • Ability to work from home on occasion in the best interest of the company.

  • Travel from 33% to 50%.
