JOB TITLE:                                       Maintenance

JOB SUMMARY:                           Position provides preventative maintenance, makes repairs, and completes miscellaneous other duties to support the functions of all District properties.

$20.60 to $23.10 per hour DOE

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitors day-to-day operations of district equipment.
  2. Participates in determining and planning for school plant needs (construction projects, remodeling, replacement, repair, etc.)
  3. Conducts the repair and/or installation of various items, systems and/or components as may be required (e.g. broken windows, roofs, building structures, floors, hand rails, stairs, lighting systems, HVAC units, plumbing/sewer systems, metal fabrication, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that items are available, efficient, and in safe working condition.
  4. Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on building environment systems, fixtures and furnishings.  Monitors and operates heating, air conditioning, ventilation, water, sewer, electrical and mechanical building environment systems. Checks operation of fire alarm system.
  5. Installs system component parts, classroom and office equipment, and facility components as may be required for the purpose of maintaining all facilities in a safe, comfortable and efficient operating condition.
  6. Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
  7. Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
  8. Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  9. Coordinates and assists in the maintenance of landscaping, concrete, blacktop surfaces and playgrounds, including removal of snow and ice on school parking lots, playgrounds and walkways.
  10. Operates and maintains security systems and opens and secures buildings as required.
  11. Works a revised schedule during emergency periods and substitutes for custodial staff when necessary.
  12. Shares responsibility for holiday, extended day, and weekend activities with custodial staff.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
EDUCATION LEVEL: High School diploma.
EXPERIENCE: Prefer three years working with preventative and corrective maintenance programs, operation of commercial HVAC systems, facility cleaning programs, and facility construction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, hearing, speaking, sitting, walking, and repetitive motion with wrists, hands, and fingers. Must be able to lift 75 pounds and occasionally bend, carry, push, crawl, reach, and climb to high and difficult places.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Inside and outside. May occasionally be subjected to extreme temperatures, humidity, mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards or vibrations. Atmospheric conditions occasionally include fumes and dust.
