SERVER
PAY RATE: $7/HR + TIPS
Job Summary: A Server ensures all guests receive a positive dining experience. The Server is responsible for following all company standards of excellence on the taking, placing, and delivering of all food and beverage orders for guests. The position of Server is more in the line of a Salesperson than an order taker. It is expected that a Server creates sales, makes recommendations, and suggestively sells at every interval and opportunity of the dining experience. The Server also serves liquor and wine responsibly. As the primary person the guest has contact with, the Server's demeanor is one of energy, creativity, zest, and professionalism. The Server will embrace "Hospitality is our craft!"
Job Duties:
Ensure the scheduled section is set up correctly before shift starts.
Set up and maintain the Server station throughout the shift by helping out and completing running side work.
Greet all guests with a smile and eye contact within one minute of seating.
Suggest specific drinks, appetizers, specials, desserts, and entrées to increase average check value for the guest and enhance their dining experience.
Place all orders correctly, as ordered.
Enter food and beverage into the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately and before delivering it to the guest.
Participates in all incentives and contests, driving sales and promoting the brand.
Coordinate the timing of all courses during the guest's experience so the time between courses is appropriate.
Pay attention to the finer points of the dining experience, such as water refills, extra napkins, timely presentation of the check, clearing of unnecessary clutter from the table, and assisting children promptly.
Check back within two minutes of delivering any food.
Pre-bus often to ensure no unnecessary clutter on the table at any time.
Convey a cheerful attitude throughout the shift.
Maintain the cleanliness of the section at all times.
Complete all assigned side work and have it checked by a closer before leaving the shift.
Accountabilities:
Serve a section of guests as assigned by management, with no more than 4 tables at a time.
Deliver beverages within three minutes of ordering.
Provide friendly, courteous service according to company standards of excellence to all guests.
Possess excellent knowledge of the food and liquor menu.
Check back within two minutes of guests receiving their food.
Arrive for work in a clean, neat, well-pressed uniform, five minutes before the scheduled start of the shift.
Serve alcohol responsibly and assist others in their alcohol service by monitoring guests.
Receive no guest complaints.
Follow all Company and Unit rules in private as well as in public.
Ensure all side work and closing work are completed and checked by a manager before leaving.
Provide the guest check within one minute of completing the meal, and process payment promptly.
Help all staff as needed and request help as necessary without hesitation.
Properly card guests and ensure no guest becomes intoxicated in the restaurant.
Qualifications:
Education: A High School diploma is desired but not essential. Must have basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills. Must be able to speak and understand fluent English.
Experience: No prior experience required, but it is strongly desired.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 30 pounds. Must have the dexterity and stamina to endure a fast-paced working environment for an entire shift. Must be able to bend, step, reach, carry, lift, wipe, stand, and stoop to perform duties. Must be able to communicate effectively with others.
Certification: Employee must complete the certification process by showing mastery of all standards of excellence in their area, scoring a minimum of 90% on a written test on the menu and Server position, as well as passing a physical test on the duties of a Server before being scheduled for a solo shift.
