WatertownTruck & Trailer is looking for a Diesel Mechanic,

Must have own tools, advance training preferred but not necessary.

Key responsibilities of a service technician include:

  1. Troubleshooting and Diagnosing Issues: Service technicians are skilled at identifying problems and malfunctions in equipment or systems. They use diagnostic tools, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills to pinpoint the root causes of issues.

  2. Repair and Maintenance: Service technicians perform repairs, replacements, and maintenance tasks to restore equipment to working condition. This can involve replacing faulty components, performing software updates, adjusting settings, and ensuring proper calibration.

  3. Customer Interaction: Service technicians often communicate directly with customers to understand the issues they are experiencing and to provide updates on the status of repairs. Effective communication and customer service skills are essential in this role.

  4. Documentation: Accurate record-keeping is important for tracking repairs, maintenance schedules, parts used, and other important information related to the equipment they service.

  5. Preventive Maintenance: Service technicians may also be responsible for scheduled preventive maintenance tasks. These tasks help prevent potential issues and extend the lifespan of the equipment.

  6. Training and Support: In some cases, service technicians provide training and support to customers on how to use and maintain the equipment properly to avoid future problems.

  7. Adhering to Safety Guidelines: Service technicians follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure their own safety and the safety of others while working on potentially hazardous equipment.

  8. * Must be able to lift up to 100lbs occasionally

  9. * Participate in all available training programs

Service technicians can specialize in various industries and fields, such as:

  • Automotive: Automotive service technicians work on cars, trucks, and other vehicles, diagnosing issues and performing repairs.

  • Information Technology: IT service technicians provide technical support for computer systems, networks, and software.

  • Medical Equipment: Medical service technicians maintain and repair medical equipment used in healthcare settings.

  • Industrial Equipment: Service technicians in industries like manufacturing and construction work on machinery and equipment used in production processes.

  • HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning): HVAC technicians service and repair heating and cooling systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

  • Telecommunications: Telecommunications service technicians work on communication equipment such as cell towers, network infrastructure, and related systems.

To become a service technician, individuals often need a combination of technical education and hands-on experience. Many service technicians receive training through vocational schools, technical colleges, or apprenticeship programs. Additionally, certifications from relevant industry organizations can enhance job prospects and demonstrate expertise in specific areas.
