Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor oversees the daily operations of our warehouse's shipping and receiving functions, managing a team of employees responsible for loading, unloading, verifying, and accurately processing incoming and outgoing shipments, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining accurate inventory records, assisting customers and the Company with inquiries regarding product shipments.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and oversee shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

  • Determine the most cost-effective shipping methods, negotiate rates, and schedule shipments.

  • Prepare and inspect outgoing shipments, ensuring proper packaging, labeling, and documentation.

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders; process returns as needed.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and oversee warehouse organization.

  • Train and provide direction for warehouse employees.

  • Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, to load/unload shipments.

  • Assist sales representatives with customer orders and inventory management.

  • Assemble and repair fire rescue tools (e.g., pike poles, water valves, hoses).

  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and best practices.

  • Participate in company initiatives and represent Heiman Fire Equipment professionally.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; one year of shipping and receiving or related experience preferred

  • Previous experience with fire apparatus preferred

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record

  • Certified forklift operator (training will be provided)

  • Able to read, write, sort, check, count and verify numbers

  • Ability to use computer software program

Physical Requirements

This job operates in an industrial environment. This role frequently required to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; stand for long periods of time; bend or twist the body; kneel, stoop, climb, crouch or crawl; work overhead or in small spaces; see differences in colors, shades and brightness; be exposed to dust, fumes, hazardous chemicals, and loud noises; exposed to changes in temperature. The employee may occasionally walk on uneven terrain; lift 50+ lbs.

Working hours

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, with occasional weekend coverage if necessary.
