Job Description
The Sunkota Construction team is looking for full-time construction carpenters. If you are hardworking and dependable, we want you on our team!
Experience in carpentry, concrete work, demolition, and steel erection are essential, though we are willing to train candidates who demonstrate they are hard-working, reliable, and can learn quickly.
This position is full time, benefit eligible and the wage is negotiable, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Handle the demolition, construction, installation, and repair of commercial structures, including walls, floors, roof framing, wood stairways, windows, and siding.
- Install a variety of components such as casework, bathroom accessories, door frames and slabs, door hardware, and both exterior and interior trim.
- Engage in basic wood and steel framing for walls, doors, windows, and other structural elements.
- Utilize hand or power tools to replace damaged or faulty parts of structures.
- Assemble scaffolding and set up ladders for tasks above ground levels.
- Interpret specifications in building plans to create project layouts, determine dimensions, and gather necessary materials.
- Transport materials as needed around the jobsite.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations to maintain a secure and orderly work environment.
- Demonstrate initiative to stay productive and ensure the smooth progression of the job.
Requirements:
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial or residential carpentry. Commercial preferred.
- Ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans and other specifications
- Ability to adhere to tight schedules and still maintain work quality.
- Adaptability and ability to change priorities as they dynamically shift
- Analytical thinking/problem solving
- Attention-to-detail and design
Physical:
- Willingness to travel in market based on project location
- Able to work in all elements of the outdoor environment
- Able to access all areas of the jobsite including stairs, scaffolding, ladders, elevation changes, etc. for extended periods
- Capable of working in physical positions that may include kneeling, sitting, standing, squatting, bending over, etc. for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to move, carry, or position items weighing up to 75 pounds.

Job Requirements
This positions responsibilities and requirements include:
- Prepare the layout of the project.
- Select materials.
- Work with blueprints or instructions form supervisors.
- Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
- Able to use hand tools.
- Work on ladders and the top beams of buildings.
- Check work along the way to ensure it’s up to code and
specifications.
- Install cabinets and moldings.
- Set wood and steel door frames and proficient with the install of
door hardware.
- Install stairs, handrails, or curtain walls.
- Build scaffolding and other construction structures
- Participate in demolitions.
- Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials
- Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of
installation and construction
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and
measurement tools.
- Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
- Good knowledge of English
- Good physical condition and endurance
