POSITION SUMMARY
The Technical Writer will develop comprehensive documentation that meets NFPA industry standards. They will obtain a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content. The Technical Writer will write user-friendly content that meets the needs of our dealer network, end users, and internal Rosenbauer teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Creates user manuals, training guides, process documentation that meets the needs of varied audiences and meets the requirements of industry standards.
- Develops comprehensive documentation that meets NFPA industry standards.
- Obtains a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content.
- Writes user-friendly content that meets the needs of our dealer network, end users, and internal Rosenbauer teams.
- Develops and maintains detailed databases of appropriate reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications.
- Evaluates current content and develops innovative approaches to improvement.
- Researches, outlines, writes, and edits new and existing content.
- Works closely with various teams (Engineering, Technical Service, Field Service, Production, Quality Control, and Training) to understand project requirements.
- Works with development and support leads to revise, edit, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage.
- Researches, creates, and maintains information architecture templates that uphold Rosenbauer America organizational and legal standards.
- Develops content in alternative media forms for maximum usability with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the company.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
K | Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience: - Associate degree or certification in Technical Writing or a similar field required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing or a similar field preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft & Adobe (Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop) required.
- 2+ years of experience working as Technical Writer preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- 2+ years of experience as a Technical Writer preferred.
- Experience with DITA or Topic-Based Authoring preferred.

S | Skills: Language: - Able to identify and adapt writing style for the intended audience (e.g. developers, end-users-engineers).
- Able to conduct interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand complex topics and clarify technical details.
- Able to find, read, and interpret relevant business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Able to write reports and business correspondence in a professional manner.
- Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Computer: - Able to proficiently navigate content management systems (CMS), editing tools (Microsoft Word, Adobe Kofax), and customer relations management software (CRM).
