POSITION SUMMARY
The Test Pit Technician performs operational and function tests of a completed apparatus on the water pump system, foam system, generator, and aerial device to ensure it meets Rosenbauer’s high quality standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
All employees are required to support Rosenbauer’s Mission, Vision, and Values. The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.
- Performs preliminary (Prelim) tests on water pump, generator, and aerial device to ensure readiness for certification by a 3rd party facility or Rosenbauer.
- Works with the inspector of the 3rd party inspection facility.
- Uses each truck’s build specification as a resource to verify all applicable customer requirements are met.
- Ensures compliance of UL, ULC, NFPA, and FAA requirements as they relate to Test Pit responsibilities.
- Performs operational tests on the water pump and foam systems both in-process and final to make sure all requirements are met.
- Completes all ISO Test Pit quality process forms and checklists and ensure findings are documented and communicated to the appropriate Supervisor.
- Follows the ISO calibration process to ensure certification compliance.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
Tools to be utilized:
Hand tools, power tools, torque wrench, gauges, VOM meters, and calipers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
K | Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience: - High school diploma/GED.
- Strong mechanical and technical ability required.
- Extensive knowledge of the pump and electrical systems required.
- Fire truck-product knowledge from either a manufacturing or fire department perspective required.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.

S | Skills: Language: - Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions.
Math: - Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
