Job Description
OBJECTIVE:
Manage all onsite operations of Midwest Transport to include management of employees, truck wash and trucking operations in an efficient and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties as assigned)
- Supervise all operational aspects of Midwest Transport. This includes managing the transportation and truck wash employees, as well as all equipment needed for transporting livestock and maintaining an operational truck wash. The manager will work at all times to create a cohesive team of employees that work together efficiently to get the job done.
- The supervisor will also be responsible for overseeing and organizing the maintenance of trailers for DOT compliance as well as light mechanical work.
- This position recognizes that implemented biosecurity measures are what separate Pipestone managed trucking from other trucking companies and these biosecurity protocols need to be a priority each and every day. Needs to work closely with the biosecurity team in understanding expectations and implementing necessary protocols in a timely and consistent manner. It is expected that 100% of Midwest’s equipment will be clean, disinfected and dry in compliance with Pipestone Transport’s biosecurity protocols.
- Audit the cleanliness of trucks and trailers
- Supervise onsite truck wash facilities in a manner that provides for proper upkeep, maintenance, cleanliness, etc. understanding that a professional appearance is a priority.
- Be a team leader as well as team player for the truck washes. Lead by example, maintaining a positive attitude and willingness to jump in and help out when needed.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
- Will occasionally haul a log of pigs and wash trailers as needed.
- Responsible for ordering supplies and maintaining necessary inventories of things such as soap, disinfectant, supplies, etc.
- Responsible for working with the onsite mechanic to ensure trucks and trailers are serviced and repaired in a timely manner.
- Responsible for completing employee evaluations and reviews each year.
- Work with Pipestone Logistics Manager to assist in day-to-day delivery and washing schedules to run an efficient trucking and wash schedule
- Light mechanical work
Supervisory Duties:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities within the Transport department in accordance with all policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma
Experience:
Previous managerial experience preferred
Commercial driver’s license required
Must have good people skills
Work Environment:
Will include time washing trucks/trailers in a wet environment. Protective clothing is provided.
Noise levels that could require hearing protection.
Physical Requirements:
Standing, walking and ability to be on feet 8 to 10 hours per day
Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling
Frequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull
Frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 30 pounds
Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, or requiring up to 50 pounds of force to move
Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds or requiring up to 100 pounds of force to move with the assistance of another person as needed
Ability to communicate effectively verbally
Ability to attend and participate in meetings of various lengths
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings
Must maintain a valid driver’s CDL
Compensation/Benefits:
$50,000-$60,000 base salary, depending on experience
