Job Title: Charge Nurse Night Shift
Hours: 6:00pm-6:30am
Department: Nursing
Reports To: Director of Nursing
Position Summary:
The Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and daily operations of a designated unit or department. This role involves coordinating resident care, managing nursing resources, and ensuring that clinical standards and procedures are followed. The Charge Nurse serves as a leader, mentor, and resource for the nursing team, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality, resident-centered care.
Environment Summary:
Village East is a 64-bed licensed assisted living facility that opened in 2019. It offers specialized care across two floors: the first floor provides secure memory care for individuals with Alzheimer's and dementia, while the second floor offers enhanced assisted living for residents requiring a higher level of support. Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Supervise and lead nursing staff on assigned shifts, ensuring that resident care is delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Patient Care: Assist with direct patient care as needed, ensuring that nursing care meets the needs of residents and is in compliance with established protocols.
- Staff Coordination: Assign and delegate tasks to nursing staff based on resident needs, staff skill levels, and unit demands.
- Problem Solving: Address any issues or conflicts that arise during shifts, including staffing shortages, resident care concerns, and equipment problems.
- Communication: Serve as the main point of contact between nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers during the shift.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to nursing staff, fostering professional development and a positive work environment.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of care provided by the nursing staff, ensuring that all care meets regulatory and organizational standards.
- Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of resident care activities in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies, including those related to resident safety, infection control, and HIPAA.
- Emergency Response: Lead the nursing team in responding to emergencies, including resident emergency, fire and weather emergencies, ensuring proper protocol is followed
Qualifications:
- Education: Completion of an accredited nursing program
- Licensure: Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in South Dakota.
- Experience: 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience, with leadership or charge nurse experience preferred.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and other relevant healthcare technology.
Working Conditions:
- Shift Work: Day shift, 6:00am-6:30pm, every third weekend & every other holiday rotation.
- Clinical Setting: Primarily works in a hospital or healthcare facility environment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods. May require lifting, positioning, and transporting patients.

Salary Range:
- LPN: $21.61/hour-$35.01/hour
- RN: $28.32/hour-$45.88/hour
