$18.00 /hour

Introduction

If you prefer working independently and can work night time hours or weekend hours, this position is for you!  Typically the Youth Care Worker begins a shift at the Abbott House after all the young people have gone to bed.  In the quiet of the evening, you are responsible for regularly checking on sleeping children, facility cleaning, and documentation.  Once the youth wake up you will also be assisting with morning routines.

Wage Range   Starts at $18.00 /hour based on experience. A complete benefit package is included for full-time employees.

Qualifications

  1. Experience is preferred but willing to train individuals interested in social work, human services, and working with youth.
  2. Ability to communicate with, lead, and maintain authority as you work with young people to complete morning routines in a positive manner and prepare for school.
  3. Effectively interact with sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences in the client population.

Responsibilities

  1. Supervision of residents and resident activities including intervening appropriately in crisis situations due to behavioral health issues.
  2. Assure cleanliness of assigned work areas and note all maintenance needs.
  3. Participate with youth when appropriate and provide leadership in activities including morning routines. 

 

 

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
A. High School diploma is necessary.
B. Responsible, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
C. Capable of maintaining authority and leadership over young people in a variety of circumstances.
D. Perform task on her/his own initiative.
E. Female only due to State Licensing

Principal Accountabilities:
A. Supervision of residents and resident activities, including; recreation, crafts, community events and community service projects.
B. Communication with other program staff and supervisors concerning problems noted and anticipated problematic situations.
C. Assure cleanliness of assigned work areas and note all maintenance needs.
D. Direction of residents during drills and actual crisis situations.
E. Participate with residents and provide leadership in activities and details.
F. Set up of medication records and dispense medications as trained.
G. Housekeeping, and maintenance functions assigned by supervisory staff.
H. Respond to other expectations of the Agency and/or supervisors.
