Job Status: Full Time                                                                    

Reports To: Axis180 Director

Position Supervises: Independent Life Skills Educators (ILSEs)

Work Schedule: Full time position requiring flexible schedule to work day, evening, and possible occasional overnight shifts.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Youth Services Supervisor at Axis 180 plays a crucial role in guiding and supporting the Independent Living Skills Educators (ILSE) in their work with young people experiencing homelessness. This position is responsible for providing daily coaching, mentoring, and direction to ILSE staff, ensuring that their interactions with participants are respectful, collaborative, and focused on building rapport and motivating positive change. The supervisor ensures the delivery of quality client services in a safe and supportive environment while maintaining the efficient operation of the facility. They are tasked with fostering a team environment that encourages open, collaborative conversations and providing continuous feedback and evaluation of ILSE performance. Additionally, the Youth Services Supervisor plans and supervises all client activities, ensuring that the services and activities offered promote positive choices and healthy lifestyles for participants.

This role is vital in creating a positive and empowering atmosphere for both staff and participants, aligned with the mission of Volunteers of America, Dakotas to guide people to live healthy and fulfilling lives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Staff

A. Responsible for development of staff schedule to ensure the appropriate coverage of the facility.

B. Assist with specific program orientation and training for new ILSE staff.

C. Ensure ongoing communication between ILSE’s and the rest of the team to include Case Managers, Education and Employment Specialist, Transition Specialist, Youth Outreach Specialist and Axis180 Director.

D. Ensure ILSE completion of required trainings.

E. Work with Axis180 Director to interview staff for open positions.

Participant Services

A. Assist with the implementation of goals and transition plans for clients.

B. Provide consultation and direction for ILSE’s regarding client services.

C. Communicate and interact with referral sources of clients when appropriate.

D. Ensure critical data is reported and documented, including incident reports, fire drills, new employee paperwork.

E. Plan and support transportation of clients as necessary.

F. Attend program meetings and training sessions.

G. Ensure supplies and groceries are adequately stocked in the units.

H. Co-facilitate and/or attend client groups as appropriate.

Crisis Intervention

A. Provide crisis intervention and communicate issues as necessary.

B. Ensure communication with referral sources any pertinent information required for a participant.

C. Communicate reports of alleged abuse or participant Runaway incidents to Department of Social Services or

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor degree preferred in alcohol and drug studies, counseling, social work, or related human service field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of two years related work experience, one of which must be in a residential setting or an equivalent combination and experience.

Computer Skills: Must possess valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.

Other Requirements: Individual must possess the skills to treat and respectfully manage a youth population (ages 16-21) who have experienced homelessness and may have addiction and/or mental health diagnoses.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

A. Ability to Stand, Walk, sit, manually manipulate, reach outward and above shoulders, speak, climb, crawl, squat, kneel, and bend on a daily basis

B. Capability to Lift, carry, push or pull up to 25 lbs on a daily basis
